Seminar: Self-Disclosure

Lecturer Ing. Nicolás E. Díaz Ferreyra
Type Seminar
Registration During the kick off-meeting
Syllabus Nowadays a high amount of private and sensitive information is disclosed permanently by the users of Social Network Sites (SNSs) like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. This common practice of making the “self” known to others through SNSs is known as “online self-disclosure”. Since revealing too much personal information to unintended audiences can bring harmful consequences to the users (like cyber bulling, stalking  and grooming) online self-disclosure has become a privacy related research topic. This seminar proposes to introduce online self-disclosure as an engineering and interdisciplinary challenge. Here the students will analyse critically the current efforts made by the scientific community to address this problem and elaborate a written contribution in this area. The following topics will be part of the seminar:
  • Privacy Policies Recommending Systems
  • Online vs. Offline behaviour
  • The audience
  • Privacy Threats in SNSs
  • Privacy and the emotional context
  • Sensitive and private information
  • Awareness
  • Self-adaptation and feedback generation
  • Individual and group privacy management
  • Intelligent Tutoring Systems
