Our facilities

The Center for Nanointegration Duisburg-Essen (CENIDE) is internationally recognized for cutting-edge materials research and development: its members use their fundamental understanding of the nanoscale to develop sustainable solutions to major societal challenges in the fields of energy, information technology and health. CENIDE provides access to state-of-the-art infrastructure, such as the unique NanoEnergieTechnikZentrum (NETZ) research building and the Interdisciplinary Center for Analytics on the Nanoscale (ICAN). CENIDE supports its members and partners from academia and industry to establish and coordinate research collaborations. The inspiring research environment attracts high potentials and offers students and young scientists an ideal basis for their further development.

The ZBT is one of the leading European research institutions for fuel cells, hydrogen technologies and energy storage. ZBT is a sought-after research and development partner in European and national top-level research and in industrial projects focusing on automotive applications and stationary power generation. ZBT GmbH is a non-profit limited liability company (GmbH), the sole shareholder since 2005 is the University of Duisburg-Essen. As a member of the Johannes Rau Research Association, the ZBT receives support from the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia.

 

TrHy - THE HYDROGEN PROVING AREA covers the whole spectrum of innovation development, knowledge transfer, testing and verification of fuel cell based propulsion systems for road, rail, water and air transport as well as education and training, especially for start-ups and SMEs. TrHy's headquarters are to be established on a fully developed industrial site in Duisburg, and it will accompany product developments from the idea to the application via satellites at the consortium partners. Its international standardization and (pre-)standardization work provides investment security and insurable products. Demand is there: TrHy is integrated into a strong innovation ecosystem of companies, research, test fields and users (more than 100 letters of intent).
