Mathematicans are required in all branches.
They work as financial mathematicians in banks and insurances and have the power to decide on the success and failure.
They also work in research and development departments of industry.
The Alumni-Club is a place to meet other mathematicans after finishing study.

In University Duisburg Essen mathematics is represented in big width. University entrants may not notice that in the first moment, but after some terms students will be gratefull about the broad range of course offerings.
Even if you want to aquire a teaching degree in maths, there are many possibilities of combining courses.
No commuting between the campuses
The course offering is so formed, that no student must shuttle between the campuses.
If you want, you can complete your whole study at one campus.
By using the ressources of both campuses, every student can elect many specialisations or practical courses.

By unifying the academical degrees in europe, University Duisburg Essen offers a Bachelor / Master degree in mathematics.
Both study courses are accredited by the ASIIN agency.
Qualification
If you have fun with maths and solving riddles and you have a talent for maths, studying maths could be the right decision.
Maths has no intern or extern numerus clausus. Every applicant with a general qualification for university entrance gets a university place.
You can enscribe for maths at registrar's office. Please consider the deadline!
If you confirm an ability test, you can also sudy maths without a general qualification for university entrance.
Course offer
Course offer at University of Duisburg Essen (Universität Duisburg Essen) contains a consecutive bachelor/master program with three different directions.
After six terms you can get the Bachelor-degree.Constitutive to the bachelor-degree you can achieve a master degree after four more terms. The "master of sience" is a
higher scientific qualification.
The university offers the Bachelor / Master study course in two different profiles:
1. "Profil 80:20"
80% of this study course equates to the classical maths study course. The remaining 20% refer to a practical course. ("Profil 80-20").
Some possible practical courses at Campus Duisburg: Practical informatics, business economics, electrical engineering, engineering or physics,
At Campus Essen: informatics, business economics, political economics, modelling and simulation in engineering, physics and chemistry.
2. "Profil 60:40"
0% maths and 40% practical courses, especially in a technical course. ("Profil 60-40")
Possible technical courses: practical informatics, business economics, electrical engineering and engineering.

At University of Duisburg Essen you cam aquire teaching degree for GHR (primary-, Haupt-, Real-school), teaching degree for secundary school or teaching drgree for professional school.
Notes: You must study two subjekts for secundary school. You can combine mathematics with: physics, chemistry, informatics, biology, german, frensh, spanish, english, history, theology, music, arts, sports and soial sciences.
