Australian writer, film director, artist and critic Dr. Philip McLaren is a proud descendant of the Kamilaroi, the Indigenous people of New South Wales. He has published five internationally acclaimed novels to date: Sweet Water, Stolen Land (1993, winner of the David Unaipon Award), Scream Black Murder (1995), Lightning Mine (1999), There'll be New Dreams (2001) and Murder in Utopia (2007). His latest novels, West of Eden and Winter in Montmartre, are due for publication. McLaren's works give voice to Australia's Indigenous people from the time of invasion to our globalised present; they have been translated into French, Spanish and Japanese.

On 12 April 2013, 20:00h the author will talk about his works and read from his latest novel, Winter in Montmartre.

On 13 April 2013, there will be an international symposium  held at the Kulturwissenschaftliches Institut Essen (KWI), covering the topic of Indigenous Australian Literature. Please click here for further information.
