Talk by New Media Artist Sabine Bürger (Essen) Great Expectations: Reflections on the Wisbech & Fenland Museum/UK

Friday, 4 May 2018, 10-12h
(R12 R04 B93)

The Wisbech & Fenland Museum is one of the oldest purpose-built museums in Britain. Its vast and eclectic collections famously contain the ‘original manuscript’ of Charles Dickens's novel Great Expectations and Thomas Clarkson's chest, an important tool the abolitionist used during his campaigns against the slave trade.

Sabine Bürger's  talk will introduce her video and photographic project Great Expectations (2013), which portrays the museum and its archive and includes an interview with curator, David Wright.
