Spatial and temporal aspects in river restoration

This projects tries to find answers on two current questions in river restoration science:

  • What are the effects of restoration measures on the hydromorphology and biotic components of the floodplain?
  • What time spans are necessary for a positive reaction of the hydromorphology and the biotic communities of the river and the floodplain?

The investigation is based on 25 restored reaches which have been sampled in 2008 and for a second time in 2013.

The project is a cooperation project with the Senckenberg research institute and is funded by the DBU, the Kurt-Lange-Stiftung, the Sparkasse Gelnhausen and the Stiftung Hessischer Naturschutz.
