Profil

I have a PhD in biology with a focus on entomology and aquatic ecosystems. In my doctoral thesis, I investigated how river floodplains are altered by anthropogenic influences and how this affects terrestrial biodiversity in the floodplains. At the UDE, I support various projects related to floodplains, such as the monitoring of restored sections of the Ruhr River and the special investigation programme ODER~SO. My focus is on recording ground beetles.

In addition, I am involved in how scientific findings can reach the general public and political decision-makers and bring about change: I am part of the coordination team of the EU Horizon2020 project MERLIN, a member of the Biodiversa BiodivRestore Knowledge Hub, and
support the work of the European Topic Centre on Biodiversity and Ecosystems, which, as an advisory institution to the European Environment Agency, deals with a wide range of aspects of assessment and restoration in Europe.
