Central Ombuds Office for Students
Central Ombuds Office for Students
The University of Duisburg-Essen wants its students to be treated fairly and justly. This goal prompted the Rectorate to set up a Central Ombuds Office for Students in early 2012.
In this short video, meet Dr. Marina Metzmacher, the Ombudsperson for Students, and find out what the Ombuds Office for Students does.
The place to go for fair treatment!
You can come to the Ombuds Office with any complaints, conflicts or issues you may have as a student or in relation to your studies – and you can also bring your ideas, suggestions and positive feedback. We always aim to reach a fair and respectful solution to your particular issue. Situations where you can seek help from the Ombuds Office include, for example:
- You have hit a roadblock in your studies and cannot get past it on your own.
- You are experiencing conflicts with teaching staff or University administration.
- You feel discriminated against and marginalised or have observed this happening to others.
- You need specific information and solutions suited to your life situation (working while studying, caring for a child or other relative, etc.).
These pages are designed to give you an overview of the advisory services the Ombuds Office offers, the principles and procedure, and, of course, your contact person and how to reach the Ombuds Office.
