Our expertise as a project partner

Our focus is in the area of innovation research, especially in open networks and with a connection to mobility. In this industry in particular, value creation is currently changing significantly due to technological leaps, new competitors and innovative business models. With our work and research at the chair, we would like to support mobility companies in the development of digital business models and prepare all those involved for the sometimes uncertain future.

Our Aims

Our aims are to conduct high-quality research and to be involved in the development of studies and research projects in the areas of innovation and in the energy, transport and mobility sectors. The chair has the expertise and resources to collect and evaluate data using qualitative and quantitative methods. The results form the basis for studies and recommendations for action. We also offer comprehensive knowledge in innovation management and the mobility industry. In other projects we took on the following tasks, among others:

- Potential analyses

- Cost calculations

- Benefits/needs analysis

- Feasibility studies

- Studying user acceptance

Previous project work (examples)

Promoting innovation in the region

Innovation Alliance New Silk Road (WIR! - Change through Innovation in the Region, BMBF)

As a consortium partner, our team identified innovative industries in the Duisburg-Wesel region during the project and supported the innovation processes of participating companies. The aim of the project is to strengthen the regional economy by leveraging potential through the new Silk Road. Among other things, various partners were brought together and new products and business models were developed. Following a successful concept phase, a follow-up application for the implementation of 25 sub-projects with over 100 LOI donors was submitted for further funding.

Technology acceptance and AI applications

Trust Through Transparancy for Connected and Autonomous Systems (T3-CAS, EU: Horizon EIC Pathfinder, approval pending)

In this international project, measures to increase the acceptance of complex, automated systems (using the examples of autonomous driving and health tech) are to be investigated. The Chair will take on the role of evaluation and acceptance measurement.
The application was submitted to the EU under the leadership of King's College London (UK) and with the participation of Eindhoven University of Technology (NL), Radboud University (NL), Hogskolan Halmstad (SE) and the start-up Impulse Innovations Limited (UK).

Diffusion of electric mobility

Submission of applications for funding for municipal and commercial electric mobility concepts (Elektromobilität vor Ort, BMVI, approval pending)

In cooperation with various companies and municipalities, electric mobility concepts are designed and individually adapted to the respective circumstances in this call for projects. The aim here is the electrification of fleets and the spread of electromobility in companies and municipal bodies. In a feasibility study that has been applied for, the Chair wants to investigate the specific electrification of refrigerated trucks together with a logistics company.
