Lectures summer term 2020

COVID19 - News about our courses


Dear students,
 
COVID-19 forces us to use electronic means for teaching our classes. This is not ideal as it will lead to a very poor, hardly interactive experience - we are disappointed and sorry for the inconvenience this may cause. For “Strömungslehre 1”, “Fluidmechanics 1", and "Numerics and Flow Simulation", we have decided on the following approach:

a) Videos of lecture slides, with explanations through voice recording, will be available in time for the originally planned lecture slots.

b) Videos of tutorials and example classes will also be made available in time for the respective originally planned slots.

c) The lecture and tutorial slots will be used as ‘question & answer' sessions, starting from April 27th. The format and communication platform will be announced in due course. We hope to provide at least some level of interaction in this way.

d) The course material of “Strömungslehre 1” and “Fluidmechanics 1" can be accessed via moodle, for which you need a password. This is the birth date of Osborne Reynolds - a very famous figure in the history of fluid mechanics who performed ground-breaking work on turbulence. The birthday must be formatted as "DDMMYYYY".

e) The course material of "Numerics and Flow Simulation" can be accessed via moodle, for which you need a password. This is the birth date of John von Neumann. The birthday must be formatted as "DDMMYYYY".

f) Besides the videos, we are working on a text for the courses - this will be updated throughout the term.

We hope that these measures will help you gain a good insight into the field of fluid mechanics, and you can perhaps even enjoy the experience a little.
