Registration winter term 2025/26
Course registration starts September 18, 2025 10:00 am. The draw for places in sections E1 methodological skills and E3 liberal studies will take place September 23, 2025. If there are still free options, they can be booked directly from September 24, 2025 12:00. The draw in the section of E1 language courses takes place October 9, 2025. Later that day (2:00 pm) you have a chance for immediate registration if the course is not fully booked.

For everyone who wants to take supplementary courses, learn languages or pursue personal development.
Supplementary courses The Ergänzungsbereich
Credits can be earned in bachelor's and some master's programmes (excluding teacher training) as part of the compulsory elective modules E1 and E3 of the Ergänzungsbereich (supplementary programme).
Module E1 includes courses on methodological skills and language courses. Module E3, liberal studies, provides insights into other subjects.
Module E1 Learning languages
We offer a broad course program which is open to students of all disciplines (BA, MA, LA, Med).
You can choose from 20 languages on several levels and you can visit those courses for gaining credits in module E1 or for further education.
Personal development Certificates
Many courses that you can take as part of your supplementary studies or for personal development can be credited towards certificates. Include certificates with your application documents and show employers what skills you have acquired beyond your studies:
- Certificate in Education for Sustainable Development

- Certificate in Diversity and Gender (UA Ruhr)
