Zur Aktualität von Freges Pragmatik

Frege's reflections on questions of pragmatics have received very little attention to date (apart from his theory of indexicality and assertion). And authors who have addressed these aspects of Frege's philosophy often consider them incoherent or outdated. The main goal of the project is to demonstrate that Frege's "rich palette of semantic relations" (Karttunen 2016) deserves much more attention. The project consists of two main parts. The first, primarily exegetical, part aims to create a comprehensive map of Frege's pragmatics, encompassing illocutionary forces, context dependence, colourings (Färbungen), side-thoughts (Nebengedanken), multipropositional sentences, and presuppositions (Voraussetzungen). The second part will use a number of problems to demonstrate how some current problems in pragmatics can be addressed from a Fregean perspective.
