Settling fundamental conflicts Plurality in Conflict

Who is right? What should apply to everyone? A characteristic of plural societies is the diversity of beliefs. Some of them are in strong conflict with each other. This often leads to fundamental, fiercely fought conflicts that are not easy to resolve: How to deal with climate change? How to deal with the dispute over abortion?

How can such conflicts be settled? The humanities, social sciences and education at the Universities of Münster and Duisburg-Essen are investigating this particular social and political challenge of contemporary democracies.
