I am happy to supervise research projects on English and Postcolonial literature and culture from the eighteenth century to the present. I am particularly interested in supervising theses on the literature and culture of England, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, the Caribbean, South Asia (India, Pakistan), Nigeria and Southern Africa (Botswana, Namibia, South Africa), and welcome proposals related to my fields of special interest, e.g. travel literature, Orientalism and ambiguity; museums and cultural heritage; lifewriting, migration and exile; women's and gender studies; crime fiction, popular and visual culture (see also my expertise summary).
