Profil
As a research associate in the Aquatic Ecology working group, I am responsible for managing national and international research projects, among other things. I accompany the projects from the first draft, through the application process to the final conclusion and form the link between the scientific, administrative and legal parties involved.
My teaching duties include supervising field internships and zoological identification exercises focusing on aquatic organisms.
I started in aquatic ecology in the field of marine biology with questions about bioactive substances in marine sponges and their potential uses. Today, I concentrate on limnological studies and the development of monitoring programs focusing on water quality, hydromorphology, macrozoobenthos and fish. The aim is to analyze the effects of various factors on organisms and ecosystems in order to develop management strategies for changing environmental conditions.
I graduated as an environmental scientist in the Experimental Ecology program at the UDE. The interdisciplinary approach combined basic natural sciences with applied ecology.
During my studies, I focused on the anatomy and physiological needs of plants and animals and their ecology. In addition to hydrobiology, I studied climatology and geology & soil science. My particular specialization was in the research of bioactive substances from plants and animals and their potential medical use.
In addition to my studies, I have continued my education in the fields of water supply and water management. I also have further qualifications in project and quality management (TQM), operational management and economics as well as certification as a water protection officer.
My personal motivation lies in combining scientific work with applied issues to develop innovative and practicable solutions to reduce the burden on animals, plants and the environment. I find communicating with different stakeholders and transferring scientific findings into practice particularly exciting.
