Support

One main goal of the WGS is to support every (post)doctoral researcher during their studies. To achieve this, the WGS does not only organize workshops and lectures but also supports their members in every (personal) situation they face during their (post)doctoral research. This in detail means that the WGS offers information and support for members who have questions or need support in terms of Diversity, Family, or Chronical diseases or disabilities or who have to face Conflicts or discrimination during their studies.

If needed all members of the WGS can always reach out to the coordinator of the WGS Dr. Vanessa Kramer for support. Dr. Vanessa Kramer will always educate herself further through workshops, lectures etc. to be able to offer the best support possible in terms of diversity aspects, family support, support for members with chronical diseases or disabilities and members who must face conflicts or even discrimination during their studies (a list of participation can be found here).

The UDE also offers support to students in difficult situations, detailed information can also be found on the websites below and the corresponding subpage.

International students

International students are very welcome to join the WGS. The main program of the WGS will be available in English. Nevertheless, a German course will be offered by the WGS for everyone who wants to join.

Further, additional support for international students will be offered e.g., in terms of finding accommodations, filling in certain forms etc.

Through many years of experience in other structured graduate programs, we are aware that international (post)doctoral students need different support than national (post)doctoral students. For this reason, WGS offers a wide range of support. In addition to the personal support by the coordinator, there will also be a German course at the beginning, for which interested (post)doctoral students can register at any time with Dr. Vanessa Kramer. The range of support for international (post)doctoral students is constantly being expanded, so we would be very pleased to receive your suggestions, ideas and wishes.
