Former student assistants

Nora Behrendt

I am a Master's student of English and History (Master of Education) at the University of Duisburg-Essen. I have been working as a student assistant to Prof. Birte Bös since 2019. I mainly support Prof. Bös in the maintenance of learning platforms, in the process of corpus compilations and as an editorial assistant for publications. Currently, I am also learning how to manage literature with Citavi.

Rahel Maullu

I am a 2-Fach Bachelor student (Anglophone Studies and Angewandte Philosophie) at the University of Duisburg-Essen. As a student assistant I support the linguistics section of Prof. Dr. Bös. My main focus is on literature management, including transcriptions and data extraction for two research projects. Over time, I have learned a lot about qualitative data analysis in MaxQDA besides being familiar with Citavi and Endnote.

Julia Kianzad

I am a Bachelor’s student of Anglophone Studies and Applied Philosophy (2-Subject BA) at the University of Duisburg-Essen. As a student assistant at the chair of Prof. Dr. Bös, I am currently working on project “E-LiTe: Electronic Linguistic Term Papers” with my colleague Viktoria Schutschmann under the supervision of both Frauke Griese and Michael Wentker. Within this project, I am contributing to the development of an (largely asynchronous and autodidactic) e-learning course on Moodle, aimed at supporting students of English Linguistics at the UDE in writing their (first) academic papers. (Our Moodle course will provide interactive learning units and quizzes on academic writing and research skills in linguistics, as well as peer-to-peer exchange opportunities (e.g. forums and chats) and, eventually, office hours for individual consultations.)

Viktoria Schutschmann

I am a 2-subject Master student of Anglophone Studies and Kommunikationswissenschaft at the University of Duisburg-Essen. During my B.A. studies, I developed a great interest in English Linguistics, which has led me to working as a research assistant for Professor Birte Bös now. Together with my colleague Julia Kianzad, you find me in the project team of “E-LiTe: Electronic Linguistic Term Papers”, in which an e-learning course will be developed that aims at helping students at all stages to improve their academic key skills regarding their term papers in the field of English linguistics. The E-LiTe project was initiated and is now led by Frauke Griese and Michael Wentker.

Besides, I am also interested in intrapersonal communication, pragmatics and discourse analysis, communication disorders as well as medical communication, and ethnographic fieldwork.
