Summary:
Together with the BOKU University (Universität für Bodenkultur Wien), different field and laboratory techniques (environmental DNA vs. morphology-based indices) are analysed and evaluated in the context of ecological assessment approaches of streams based on macroinvertebrates in Austria. The aim is to compare the current WFD methods with eDNA metabarcoding analyses for assessing the ecological quality class of flowing waters for the BQE macrozoobenthos to evaluate the potential for implementation.
