Dr. Herzog-Sellenberg-StiftungAssessing impacts of climate change on German insect communities using DNA-based monitoring methods

Duration: 2023-2026
Current Phase: Phase II

Summary:

The goal of the project is to optimise DNA-based monitoring methods for insects, especially biomonitoring based on metabarcoding of Malaise-trap samples. This optimisation is supposed to enhance the assessment of impacts that climate change has on insect communities via long-term datasets. Currently the project is in a method-development phase that explores the possibilities of quantitative insect metabarcoding.
