Cambridge Examen CAEdok(international)FORUM

English is and remains the number 1 tool for international communication, not only but also in Academia.

Therefore, the dok(international)FORUM provides a special format for doctorate candidates to improve their international communication skills for their academic and professional careers.

In this format, you can learn all the necessary skills to use appropriate, real English in every situation: socializing and networking, presenting and discussing, and also writing and publishing - remember, international journals or conference organisers will not accept “Denglish”.

At the same time, you will be able to prepare for the Cambridge C1 Advanced Certificate, the internationally most widely accepted and required language certificate, which will enable you to apply for jobs, research, or teaching positions anywhere in the English-speaking world.

To top it all off, you can also obtain up to 3 CPs for regular participation (1 CP for each 8 sessions visited).

You can start any time as the curriculum is continuous.

Your coach:

Dr. Sabine Prüfer, DSP Languages + Coaching, Düsseldorf, is a near-native speaker of English and self-employed language coach.

Since 1992, she has been teaching at various universities as well as companies in Germany and abroad (e.g., UDE, FernUniversität in Hagen, ZVA, HHU Düsseldorf, University of Birmingham).

Her focus is on motivating participants to overcome any fears and inhibitions and empowering them to confidently use Real English in every situation – whether in Academia, in the business world, or privately.

Internationale PublikationenProofreading

Curriculum for DokForum’s CAE course

This curriculum is merely a guideline and supposed to help people follow the course if they miss a session. Some parts of the units will be given as homework, as the focus in class will be mainly on the speaking, reading, and listening activities and the interaction with the other participants.

Please note: At any time, the course is open for your topics, e.g., a conference paper you would like to present, an introduction to your dissertation project, or a special training on presenting online!

You are NOT required to prepare in advance for any session!

All sessions take place online via MS Teams on Thursdays from 3.30 pm – 5.00 pm.
