Since 2007, Ruhr University Bochum, Dortmund Technical University and the University of Duisburg-Essen have been working together to shape the future of research, higher education and knowledge transfer.
This collaboration has given rise to the Ruhr University Alliance (UA Ruhr), one of Germany’s most dynamic academic networks – a consortium that brings together people, ideas and innovations across disciplinary boundaries and locations.

Since 2021, UA Ruhr has been bringing together its world-leading international research on pressing issues for the future under the umbrella of the Research Alliance Ruhr. With four research centres and a college for the humanities and social sciences, the Research Alliance stands as a beacon in the Ruhr knowledge metropolis and offers outstanding researchers an attractive research environment.
