EIMK: Empathical Intercultural Medical Communication

In order to strengthen communication between patients and medical professionals, the Landesgesundheitsministerium

​ (Ministery of Health) financed the model project Empathical Intercultural Doctor-Patient-Communication (EI-AP-K) between 2015 and 2019. After the first phase the department EIMK (Empathical Intercultural Medical Communication) was established at the University Hospital Essen.

Directed by Dr. Stefanie Merse, clinical care professionals with migration experiences are qualified alongside their professional activities since January 2021. Results from the "Model of Essen" build the foundation for the course concept.
