IN-EAST is governed by a board constituted by the professors and representatives of the academic and administrative staff and the students. The board elects the Director and Deputy Director, who carry out the day-to-day business, supported by the Executive Director and the administrative staff. The Institute is assisted by a Board of Trustees and an Academic Advisory Council.

Das IN-EAST wird durch einen Vorstand geleitet. Gebildet aus den ProfessorInnen und VertreterInnen der akademischen und administrativen MitarbeiterInnen und der Studierenden wählt der Vorstand den/die DirektorIn und dessen/deren StellvertreterIn, die mit dem Geschäftsführer und den Verwaltungskräften die Geschäfte führen. Das Institut wird durch ein Kuratorium und einen wissenschaftlichen Beirat unterstützt.
