Payment according to Grade 13 TV-L
Start of employment
as soon as possible
Duration of employment
3 years
Working time
67% of a full-time position (26 h 41 min)
Your main tasks
The research aims to improve the understanding of the local electrocatalytically active regions that develop on the surface of multi-metal based materials when exposed to an electrolyte or when current/potential is applied. Understanding how different local anodes and cathodes develop on the surface of compositionally-complex surfaces is important for electrocatalytically driven processes.
The following activities / measures are required:
Carrying out local electrochemical measurements using scanning electrochemical cell microscopy (SECCM) experiments on various electroactive materials. Establishment of the scanning electrochemical microscopy (SECM) method in the group. Combined experiments with SECCM and SECM to understand possible corrosion processes and to detect products during oxidation reaction (mainly alcohol electrooxidation). Fabrication of nanopipettes and nanopipette-based carbon electrodes needed for SECM-SECCM measurements. Analysis and interpretation of results and visualization of local potentials and calculation of mixed potentials. Correlation of electrochemical data with other local characterization techniques such as Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), Raman, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM).
Publication of high quality papers in peer-reviewed journals and presentation of results at scientific conferences. Writing of manuscripts. Preparation of weekly reports according to the rules of the group.
Active participation in the acquisition of external funding. Data is expected to be stored according to FAIR principles.
