Project title:
Role of Rho GTPase proteins in signal networks in tumor related dynamic cell behavior
Project description:
Participation in the research project: “The role of Rho-GTPase proteins in the control of tumor-associated dynamic cell processes”
The project investigates the regulation of subcellular activity dynamics of actin-regulating Rho-GTPases and their role in dynamic cell processes, such as cell migration, invasion and cell division.
Start of employment
As soon as possible
Duration of employment
3 years
Working time
25 h 53 min (65 %)
Your main tasks
To work on the project, PhD candidates should pursue a multifaceted research program that includes the following approaches:
- Establishment and use of cell lines with fluorescently labelled Rho signaling network components
- Measurement of subcellular, dynamic Rho GTPase activity with fluorescent sensors
- Generation of tumour spheroids for tracking dynamic cell processes also in 3D
- Application of modern light microscopy techniques, such as TIRF-M, TIRF-SIM and confocal spinning disk microscopy.
Your profile
Completed scientific university degree in Molecular Cell Biology, Chemical Biology or related subjects of at least 8 semesters (standard period of study).
We are looking for highly motivated, team-oriented candidates with a strong interest in the molecular mechanisms controlling cellular functions and excellent scientific skills. Candidates should have solid practical experience in cell and molecular biology methods, biochemical approaches and modern microscopy techniques. In particular, knowledge in the application of TIRF and confocal live cell microscopy as well as quantitative image analysis is an advantage. A university degree (Master or equivalent) with a focus on cell biology or biochemistry is required.
