Arrival by plane

Nearest airport: Düsseldorf Airport (DUS) – 25–30 minutes' drive to the Duisburg campus.

Option 1: Taxi
• Duration: approx. 25–30 minutes
• Cost: approx. €70
Option 2: Public transportation
1. SkyTrain: Airport → Airport station
• Travel time: approx. 3 minutes
• Operating hours: 4:00 a.m. – 1:00 a.m. (every 3–5 minutes)
• Important: Do not get off at the S-Bahn stop between Terminals A and C! Only get off at the airport station

Ticket: If you already have a valid onward ticket (S-Bahn or RE), the SkyTrain is free of charge. Otherwise, buy a ticket at the SkyTrain station ticket machine (approx. €2.50).

2. Onward travel - Destination: Duisburg Central Station (Duisburg Hbf)
Train connection: Airport station → Duisburg Central Station
• Regional-Express (RE19): Every hour, approx. 16 minutes travel time
• S-Bahn (S1): Every 20 minutes, approx. 20 minutes travel time

Ticket: Valid for: S-Bahn (S1), Regional-Express (RE19)
• Fare category: B (currently: €7.80)
• Where to buy: VRR app, Ticket machine at the station, Sales point at the station

Then: Continue your journey by tram to the campus (see section “Arrival by train”).

Arrival by train

1. Arrival: Duisburg Hbf (main station)
2. Change to the tram (line 901)
• Ticket required: Fare category B (currently: €3.80)
• Where to buy: VRR app, Ticket machine at the station, Sales point

Access to the tram station: The entrance to the subway is not in the main station hall! Follow the signs to the northern end of the platform. There you will find an escalator to the subway entrance → Duisburg Central Station subway station.

Tram line 901
• Direction: Zoo / University or Mülheim
• Frequency: Approx. every 10 minutes (less frequent in the evening)
• Travel time: Approx. 5 minutes
• Stop: “Zoo / University” (3rd stop)

• At the corner of Mülheimer Straße / Lotharstraße, you will see several round buildings – the famous “Keksdosen.”
3. Enter the building via the main entrance in the MC building and go to the 2nd floor.
• Follow the signs to office MG 263 (Dr. Manuel Gruber's office).

Arrival by car

From the north or south (A3):
1. Take the Duisburg-Kaiserberg (DU-Kaiserberg) exit.
2. First, drive toward Essen (right lane).
3. Exit at DU-Kaiserberg.
4. At the end of the exit: Turn left at the traffic lights.
5. Follow the signs for “Zoo / Universität.”

From the east or west (A40 / A59):
1. Take the Duisburg-Kaiserberg (DU-Kaiserberg) exit.
2. Drive straight onto the “DU-Kaiserberg” exit.
3. At the end of the exit: Turn left at the traffic lights.
4. Follow the signs for “Zoo / Universität” (zoo/university).
Important: Do not drive towards Duisburg-Zentrum, but straight ahead along Carl-Benz-Straße.
After the highway bridge, you will automatically reach the campus parking garage (Opening hours: 6:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. Please note: You cannot leave the parking garage after 10:00 p.m.!)

The M buildings (the Keksdosen) are located next to the parking garage. Follow the signs to the main entrance MG and go to the 2nd floor.

Follow the signs to office MG 263 (Dr. Manuel Gruber's office).
