• Applicants for doctoral studies have to look for a doctoral advisor on their own initiative and suggest a scientific topic.
• If your suggestion for a topic has been accepted you can apply at the international office with the professor's letter of acceptance.
• Please submit your application for admission at the international office. You can also apply online.
• You can apply any time (except for graduate schools)
• If you do not wish to write your dissertation in German you also need a written confirmation from the Postgraduate Admissions Board of the respective faculty stating the language your dissertation will be written in.
• Please find the main research of the faculties.
• Please find a list of all graduate schools.

Although probably not everything in this brochure is personally relevant we hope you can think of this brochure like you think of a large telephone book: You may never need all of it but it's nice to have it just in case.

What should you do if you have other questions? We would recommend you first check with the institute supervising your stay and colleagues there since they can provide first-hand experience and advice. And, for questions that they are unable to answer, please feel free to contact us at the International Office!
