Joel Guttke

Joel Guttke works as a research assistant in EFL Education at the University of Duisburg-Essen. His research revolves around secondary EFL teachers’ diagnostic competence and inclusive EFL education with a particular focus on academic underachievement, instructional quality and students on the autism spectrum.
Joel studied English and Mathematics at the University of Duisburg-Essen where he obtained a teaching qualification in secondary education. His master thesis concerned itself with the ways secondary EFL teachers conceptualize and diagnose academic underachievement. As part of his course of studies, he spent six months abroad working as a foreign language assistant at Coláiste de hÍde in Dublin, Ireland.
