How will people and technologies work together in the future? What role does artificial intelligence play in everyday life, and how can digital systems be tailored even more closely to the needs of their users? These and other questions will be the focus of Computer Science Day 2026, organized by the Faculty of Computer Science at the University of Duisburg-Essen in collaboration with Fraunhofer IMS.

Under the theme “Designed for Humans – The Future of Human-Computer Interaction,” visitors can expect a diverse program featuring the latest insights into research and practice on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at the Fraunhofer-inHaus Center in Duisburg.

Following welcoming remarks by Dean Prof. Dr.-Ing. Torben Weis and the Faculty’s Executive Director, Dr. Evgenia Princi, three experts will provide insights into their research areas:

• Dr. Jessica Szczuka: Intimacy by Design: When AI Becomes Interpersonal
• Dr. Gero Strobel: Pixels and Reality: When AI Gains Hands and Feet
• Prof. Dr.-Ing. Michael Prilla: Human-Robot Teams: From Interaction to Collaboration

Following this, early-career researchers from the faculty will present their current research projects in an interactive poster session. The best presentations will be honored with the Best Poster Award. The event will conclude with a get-together featuring snacks and drinks, providing an opportunity for conversation, networking, and exchange among the academic community, the business sector, and the general public.
