From August 30 through September 2, the University of Duisburg-Essen will welcome over 500 participants to its Duisburg campus for the “Man and Computer” (MuC) conference. Experts from academia and industry will come together to discuss current issues in human-computer interaction. This year’s conference is themed “Transforming Interactions.” Over the course of four days, the focus will be on how people use and help shape digital technologies—as well as on applications at the intersection of users, teams, communities, and modern information and communication technologies. The hosts are Prof. Dr. Stefan Schneegaß and Prof. Dr. Michael Prilla from our School of Computer Science, as well as Dr. Max Pascher (UDE / TU Dortmund).

The diverse program of presentations, poster and demo sessions, and workshops covers the following topics, among others:

• Wearables for controlling rescue robots
• Who makes the decisions in an emergency: humans or machines?
• How social networks moderate harmful content
• Critical perspectives on digital self-optimization and wearables

Held annually since 2001, MuC is the largest conference series  on human-computer interaction in the German-speaking world. It brings together researchers, developers, and industry experts to design innovative forms of digital interaction.
