Students from the Faculty of Computer Science Begin Preparations for the International Autonomous Ship Challenge
Dr. Thorsten Kimmeskamp from the Faculty of Computer Science’s mentoring program visited the Institute for Sustainable and Autonomous Maritime Systems (INAM) at the Faculty of Engineering, accompanied by students. During the kick-off meeting, initial planning began for an interdisciplinary student team’s participation in the “Njord Autonomous Ship Challenge” hosted by the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim.
The goal of the project is to develop and build an autonomous catamaran that will compete against the autonomous ships of other teams on a special course against the autonomous vessels of other teams.
Participating in the challenge offers students the opportunity to apply their knowledge in a real-world project, experience interdisciplinary collaboration, and further develop innovative technologies in the field of autonomous maritime systems.
