Dean’s Award of Business Informatics Recognizes Innovative Student Projects
The Dean’s Award in Business Informatics honors particularly innovative, academically strong, and socially relevant student work. The goal of the award is to make excellent projects visible and to encourage student engagement.
In the winter semester 2025/2026, the following awards were presented:
- Dean’s Award – Best Information Systems Student Project Winter Term 2025/2026
- Two Dean’s Awards – Runner Up to Best Information Systems Student Project Winter Term 2025/2026
The selection process consisted of three phases. First, project groups submitted video presentations of their work. After review, faculty members in Business Informatics voted on the submissions. The projects were evaluated based on innovation, relevance, scientific rigor, as well as clarity and comprehensibility.
The nominated teams then presented their projects as posters during the bachelor course “Enterprise Systems” on May 6. The final winner was determined live on site using an applause meter. The event was moderated by Prof. Dr. Ralf Plattfaut.
First place went to the project “Generative Virtual Patients: Visualization of Virtual Characters” (Softec chair) by Raphael Welsow, Patrick Mang, and Abdellah Salam. Second place was awarded to “Development of an Interactive UI for Displaying and Analyzing Employer Reviews” (EPA chair) by Vaios Pechlevanidis, Ayham Khallouf, Sara Arabi, and Hozayfa Khleef. The project “SYNAPSE: Development of a Life Operating System” (DIP chair) by Ziad Morsy, Noel von Stockum, Marc Berthold, Ibrahim Sueruecue, Sadegh Nakhjiri, Nils Hache, and Fred Moyo took third place.
The awarded projects demonstrate the innovative strength and practical relevance of Business Informatics, as well as the strong commitment of the students. We warmly congratulate all awardees and thank everyone involved for their contributions and insights.
