With the ICM Advisory Board, the University of Duisburg-Essen has established a committee to perform both strategic and operational tasks in the field of information, communication and media.

It has a comprehensive and expanded advisory role for the Vice-Chancellor for Transfer, Innovation & Digitalisation (TID) and for the Chief Information Officer (CIO).

The remit of the Commission for Information, Communication and Media Technology includes, in particular:

1. Advising on future-oriented design and organisational and technical development in this area
2. Issues relating to data protection and data security

The IT Committee consists of representatives from the university as an administrative body and the staff councils.

It discusses the systems underlying the IT framework service agreement with the aim of ensuring the early and comprehensive involvement of the staff councils in the planning, introduction, application and modification of information technology systems.
