The Postdoctoral Researcher will be a part of the research group for experimental economics and the Essen Laboratory for Experimental Economics (elfe), led by Professor Steffen Altmann. The research group is embedded into of a thriving intellectual environment, comprising the Ruhr Graduate School in Economics (rgs-econ.org), the CINCH Center for Health Economics Research (https://cinch.uni-due.de/), and various other academic institutions in the Rhein/Ruhr area.

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled researcher to join our dynamic team as a Lab Manager for the elfe lab. In addition to coordinating and managing lab operations, the successful candidate will engage in independent and collaborative research in the fields of behavioral and experimental economics, contributing to the advancement of their personal research agenda and the broader agenda of the research group.

Your main tasks

  • You will conduct independent and collaborative research in behavioral and/or experimental economics.
  • As manager of the elfe lab, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the lab, advise researchers who want to carry out experiments, and take care of the lab’s hardware and software in cooperation with the IT services of University of Duisburg-Essen. You will also be responsible for the management of elfe’s subject pool and coordinate the elfe lab meeting, jointly with the director of the lab.
  • You will contribute to the research group’s course program, with a light teaching load.

Your profile

  • We are seeking a talented applied economist at an early career stage, specializing in behavioral and/or experimental economics.
  • Applicants should have completed a Ph.D. in Economics or related fields (or be close to completion).
  • The ideal candidate has strong analytical and organizational skills and proven experience in designing and conducting economic experiments.
  • Knowledge of German is an asset, but not required.
