Your main tasks

You will conduct research in the field of N2 oxidation in the group of Corina Andronescu, located at the University Duisburg-Essen. You will also be affiliated with the activities presently conducted in the UNODE forschergruppe, in which consortia formed by renowned scientists from Germany explore alternative anodic reactions which can be paired with H2 production via water electrolysis (https://www.ruhr-uni-bochum.de/for2982/index.htm).

Electrochemical testing of different electrocatalyst materials, data evaluation, analysis of the results, correlation of the electrochemical data with the structural data, and manuscript writing are planned. Data storage according to FAIR principles is expected.

In addition, contribution to practical experiments and supervision of bachelor and master students is expected.

Within the framework of the activity, opportunities for further scientific qualification are offered.

Your profile

We are looking for a highly motivated, dedicated employee with an excellent academic record. We expect him/her to have an interest in interdisciplinary projects.

  • Above-average university degree in Chemistry, chemical engineering or physics (diploma or master's degree) with at least 8 semesters of regular study time.
  • previous scientific experience (e.g. knowledge of empirical research methods, laboratory procedures, experience with statistical analyses and corresponding software/other applications) necessary/desirable.
  • In addition, you will be involved in the implementation and execution of courses, and/or the supervision of students.
  • Previous experience in electrocatalysis, in particular in the field of testing of gas diffusion electrodes, N2 activation is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English is required.
  • Knowledge of the German language is preferred but not mandatory.
