Your main tasks
We are looking for a junior scientist with research experience in a topical field of experimental or theoretical physical chemistry or related disciplines who will complement the existing research profile in chemistry at the University of Duisburg-Essen in a fruitful way. We are open to all research areas that meet this criterion. Potential associated areas include in-situ spectroscopy (such as the investigation of catalytic centres or liquid/solid interfaces, (bio)molecular imaging, chiro-optical methods, nanophotonics, plasmonics, method development) and colloids/materials (including smart colloidal systems, hybrid materials for applications in catalysis or medicine, self-organising systems, nanofabrication).
Candidates are to propose an innovative research programme aimed at acquiring competitive third-party funded projects, preferably DFG-funded projects. The research programme is expected to provide a clear perspective for collaboration with existing research groups in the Faculty of Chemistry and enhance the research programme of ACTIVE SITES (www.uni-due.de/activesites). A willingness to participate in interdisciplinary collaboration across UDE’s strategic research areas – the Center for Nanointegration Duisburg-Essen (CENIDE), the Center of Medical Biotechnology (ZMB), the Centre for Water and Environmental Research (ZWU) – is also expected. In addition to professional qualifications, candidates are expected to possess transferable skills such as leadership and communication as well as an international mindset.
