The University of Duisburg-Essen has been a “Partner University for Top-Level Sport” for years, and now it has added another title: Official Partner University of the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games. The UDE is all in when one of the world's biggest multi-sport events takes place in the Rhine and Ruhr regions from July 16 to 27. On March 26, the cooperation between the university and Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU Games gGbmH was officially sealed with the signing of the cooperation agreement.

World University Games: 100 days to goEverybody is all-in

There is an atmosphere of Olympic spirit in the region and anticipation is growing: On July 16, the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games will open. Eleven days of top international sport and action will follow, and the UDE is all-in. We spoke to Dr. Roman Hauck, Project Coordinator at the university, about this.

Flame of Knowledge

The flame relay in May 2025 is a key event of the FISU World University Games and will be held in all host cities. The symbol of the games, the Flame of Knowledge, will also stop at the two campuses of the UDE. As soon as we know the exact dates, we will announce them here.

FISU World Conference

3 days, 400 participants, 40 countries: The FISU World Conference 2025, themed "Competing for Change: Exploring Sustainability and (Mental) Health through Sports," will spotlight important issues. As the academic partner, the UA Ruhr supports this platform for interdisciplinary scientific exchange, fostering research and creativity beyond the scope of academia.

Intercultural exchange

Strengthening connections: As the official partner delegation, UDE is welcoming Brazil, fostering a vibrant exchange through cultural, sporting, and scientific activities. This partnership paves the way for new collaborations and shared experiences. More details to come.
