The main focuses are tribological properties and cyclic behavior of technical materials, with a special focus on high-strength metallic alloys. Typical applications are in the areas of energy, automotive and medical technology as well as tool making. In addition to determining material data such as fatigue strength or wear rates under defined conditions, the correlation with microstructural changes and the elementary damage mechanisms is the basis of our scientific work.
In many cases of mechanical stress, the chemical stress on the material surfaces cannot be neglected. Therefore, electrochemical tests and surface treatments are also part of the research field.
