Creative Writing Workshop
Sule Emmanuel Egya
In this creative writing workshop with the renowned Nigerian writer and scholar Sule Emmanuel Egya, students have the unique opportunity to acquire skills or hone their skills in the craft of writing poetry and fiction. An introductory theoretical session will concentrate on the art of poetry and the art of fiction in which participants will discuss the components and techniques of poetry and of fiction respectively. In the following practical session, each participant will choose one of the two genres that appeals to them and write a draft, present it and receive feedback.
The workshop is an outcome of a collaboration with the Department of Anglophone Studies at the University of Duisburg-Essen.
The number of participants is limited. Please register by 19 June, 12 pm.

New Study Programme, MA Anglophone Popular Culture
Both the increasingly globalized job market and the continuous advancement of academia require graduates from research-focused master programmes with competencies in more than one culture and language. By guiding students towards independent, competitive research projects and by teaching exclusively in English, students’ intercultural competencies (esp. in terms of Anglophone Popular Culture) as well as their problem-solving skills are advanced and strengthened. Since organised thinking and theoretically informed approaches to complex problems are necessary for both areas, the MA programme prepares students for a career in the academia as well as the job market beyond the university.
