Tale of the Gael (IRL)
In Tune with Irish Writing

In Tune with Irish Writing with Irish band Tale of the Gael offers a perspective on what inspires contemporary Irish writers and how these influences appear in their work. Irish song writers, musicians and composers also react to the same influences, but their creative responses are artistically different. Socially, modern Ireland is a complex terrain, and this is compounded by history. The affairs of the past, both documented, and undocumented continue to bubble up through the generations, providing both challenge and inspiration for modern artists of all disciplines.
Tale of the Gael weaves together some of these strands into a performance piece that layers up words and music and the influences that inspire them.
Referenced contemporary writers include Eílís Ni Dhuibhne, Sebastian Barry, Paul Lynch, Paul Murray, Manchán Magan, Roddy Doyle, and others.

New Study Programme, MA Anglophone Popular Culture

Both the increasingly globalized job market and the continuous advancement of academia require graduates from research-focused master programmes with competencies in more than one culture and language. By guiding students towards independent, competitive research projects and by teaching exclusively in English, students’ intercultural competencies (esp. in terms of Anglophone Popular Culture) as well as their problem-solving skills are advanced and strengthened. Since organised thinking and theoretically informed approaches to complex problems  are necessary for both areas, the MA programme prepares students for a career in the academia as well as the job market beyond the university.
