Satan spricht Deutsch: Special event with translator and writer Rolf Schönlau

The translator and writer Rolf Schönlau (https://www.rolfschoenlau.de/) will be a special guest in Christoph Heyl´s seminar on Milton´s Paradise Lost. Rolf Schönlau is the author of Paradies Verloren (Berlin: Friedenauer Presse, 2024). In this book, he combines his translation of selected parts of Milton´s epic poem with a re-telling of the entire work in prose and a very illuminating running commentary. Rolf Schönlau´s visit will be an opportunity not only to learn about Paradise Lost, but also to get to know someone who makes a living as a writer and a translator. Feel free to join this seminar session.

New Study Programme, MA Anglophone Popular Culture

Both the increasingly globalized job market and the continuous advancement of academia require graduates from research-focused master programmes with competencies in more than one culture and language. By guiding students towards independent, competitive research projects and by teaching exclusively in English, students’ intercultural competencies (esp. in terms of Anglophone Popular Culture) as well as their problem-solving skills are advanced and strengthened. Since organised thinking and theoretically informed approaches to complex problems  are necessary for both areas, the MA programme prepares students for a career in the academia as well as the job market beyond the university.
