Justin finished is PhD with a successful defense. His work dealt with bridged ether-based materials for bio-imaging. Congratulations on the well-deserved title!

Our group got a new emission lifetime spectrometer. The FT300 from PicoQuant is able to measure short (ns) and ultralong (s) emission lifetimes of solid and liquid samples at room temperature and at 77K.

Alex published his work about single benzene emitters for bioimaging and materials science in Chem. Eur. J. -  Congrats!

We celebrated our annual Christmas party, looking back on an amazing and very successful year!

Lea received the prestigious Bruno Werdelmann stipend to carry out her PhD about novel chalcogen-based emitter - Congrats!

Rick published his work about photoresponsive luminescent mesoporous silica nanoparticle as additives for 3D printing and electrospinning in Chem. Asian J. - Well done!

Jens gave a keynote lecture of our work in the field of photoresponsive luminophores at the University of Münster in the framework of the Nanotour 2024. He was invited by the groups of Prof. Bart Jan Ravoo, Prof. Frank Glorius and Nobel laureate Prof. Ben L. Feringa (Groningen - NL) - what an honor.

Jana and Ben started their "Vertiefungspraktikum" in our group - all the best and good luck for the upcoming months!

We are pleased that a new piece of equipment has just arrived in our labs: a Quantaurus-QY spectrometer by Hamamatsu. This vital instrument lets us measure photoluminescence quantum yields in solid-state and solution at room temperature or 77 K. 

After her Vertiefung in our group, Mandy decided to continue working with us for her Master's thesis. We wish her all the best!

Together with several colleagues from Germany, Jens took part in the Indo-German Workshop on Supramolecular Systems (SupraSys) in Goa, India. This event will strengthen collaborations and knowledge transfer between scientists in both countries. Cheers to India!

Kevin absolved his defense with an excellent presentation and a cheerful celebration afterwards. Congratulations on the well-deserved title!

We recently discovered a photoinduced cyclization of thioethers, which can be induced in materials to generate phosphorescent motifs. Together with the groups of Strassert and Haberhauer as well as support from the Co-Creation Lab Product Innovations, we published the results in Angewandte Chemie. Congratulations to everybody involved!

Jens was invited to the 6^th International Conference on Aggregation-Induced Emission (AIE6) in Boston. As a plenary speaker, he presented our group's progress and met the leading experts on aggregation-induced emission. What an honour!  

As time ran fast, Katrin finished her year of training in our group. While we wish her all the best, we welcome two new faces: Ayliz and Diana are joining our group for their second year of training. Welcome here!

During Jan's doctoral studies, he merged the supramolecular GCP binding motif with the photoswitchable cyanostilbene unit to obtain luminescent ligands for bioimaging. The results were just published in Chem. Eur. J. Nice work!

Viktoria started working in our group for her bachelor's thesis. Alex will teach her everything she needs to know. We wish her a good time!

In collaboration with the groups of Knauer and Schrader, AIE-active linkers were used to study the binding of multivalent tweezers to the enzyme Taspase 1. The research was just published in Chem. Eur. J. Congrats to all authors!

Accompanied by perfect weather, we celebrated the beginning of summer with some nice self-made burgers and barbecue. We had a great time and for sure grew closer as a group.

Shortly after leaving Strassert Lab in Münster, Sid joined our labs as a postdoc. We gladly welcomed him in Essen and are sure to receive helpful input!

Thomas just started his bachelor's thesis under Lea's supervision. He can learn a lot from her experience working with chalcogen heterocycles. Good luck!

Right on time for the start of the summer semester, Mandy joined our group for her Vertiefung under Rick's supervision. Let's go!

This year marks Elisabeth's 25th service anniversary at our university, so we invited current and former group members to celebrate with her. We are deeply grateful for the work Elisabeth does in our group!

We attended the 7th biannual SupraChem, which took place in Ulm this time. It was a nice opportunity to present some of our research, connect with other groups and visit the beautiful historic city! 

For our annual Voskuhl Christmas celebration, we ate at a nice Italian restaurant and had some drinks later on. In addition to Christmas, we celebrated Jens' recent appointment as a full professor. Here's to some exciting upcoming years!

At this year's graduation ceremony, three of our (former) group members were honored: Rick and Lea for completing their Master of Science and Jan for finishing his PhD. Many reasons to celebrate! 

We recently published an article on the influence of regioisomerism on phosphorescence emitters. The article in ChemPhotoChem is Marco's first paper as first author. Nice!

At long last, Matthias absolved his defense to join the club of successful Voskuhl doctors. We are proud of him!

Rick and Lea submitted their master's theses, which gives them some spare time before they return as research interns in November. Congrats!

For this year's Voskuhl retreat, we boarded a ship in Leeuwarden (Netherlands). Thankfully, we had the best of weather and nobody got sea sick. It was a nice time off!

After Finn completed his second year of training and left our group, Katrin joined in as our new laboratory assistant trainee. Welcome aboard!

Together with members of other groups (Giese, Haberhauer and Niemeyer), Kevin and Alex participated in the 4th Merck Compound Challenge. Although not on the winner´s podium, a great 4th place was achieved!

Following a week of vacation on Iceland, we visited the 17th International Symposium on Macrocyclic and Supramolecular Chemistry in Reykjavik. Each of us contributed a poster, which earned us a lot of fruitful discussions. 

In collaboration with the Knauer group, Alex just published his work on lipofection agents featuring solution- and solid-state emission. Congrats! 

As preparation for ISMSC 2023, we decided to familiarise ourselves with the Icelandic weather. Therefore, we spent a week climbing glaciers, hiking on volcanoes and visiting numerous waterfalls. What a refreshment!

Together with the Giese group, we attended the second Münster Symposium on Intelligent Matter and listened to some exciting and inspiring lectures. 

Justin successfully published his third paper with first authorship. Well done!

Following the Vertiefung in our group, Rick and Lea will write their Master's theses in our group as well. Welcome back!

Felix, who works in the Jansen group as a postdoc, supports our group as part of a synthetic internship. Welcome on board!

Our group spent a recreational weekend in the small town of Werdum by the North Sea. Despite the cold weather, we had lots of fun!

Having finished his dissertation, Jan returns to the Voskuhl group for his postdoctoral studies. It's a pleasure to have him back!

The 5^th International Symposium on Aggregation-Induced Emission (AIE-5) was held in Shenzhen, China. Jens participated online and gave an invited talk about "Shining Light on Transfection".

Our group enjoyed a weekend off in Papenburg in northern Germany. Together with some alumni, we had a great time!

Finn joins the group for a year during his training as a laboratory assistant. He will support and learn from Alex and Marco. Welcome to the AG Voskuhl!

Together with AK Giese, Niemeyer, Haberhauer & Schrader members, our group attended the 6th SupraChem in Mainz. There, Alex was awarded with a poster prize. Congratulations! 

We visited the first Münster Symposium on Intelligent Matter, where Kevin and Marco each presented a poster. Having impressed the jury, we were able to take home a poster prize. Time to celebrate!

Shortly after joining the group for her Vertiefung, Lea decided to stay with us for her Master's thesis. We are eager to see the upcoming results!

After completing their master theses in the Voskuhl group, both Alex and Marco returned for their PhD studies. We wish them a good start for their PhDs!
