Korean Auto Tech Delegation at Duisburg Campus
Wednesday, November 30, 2011, 14.00–16.00 Fuel Cell Research Center (ZBT)
A Korean delegation of 40 high-ranked company representatives and scientists, interested in Germany’s auto industry, visited the University of Duisburg-Essen, following up on the recently started Free Trade Agreement between Korea and the European Union. The Chair of East Asian Economic Studies/Japan and Korea (Prof. Werner Pascha, Sven Horak, MSc) organized a program for the delegation on 30 November 2011, kindly hosted by the Fuel Cell Reserch Center (ZBT).
This event was part of Duisburg-Essen’s Institute of East Asian Studies’ (IN-EAST) push to develop closer links between East Asian Studies on the one hand and the disciplinary sciences, including engineering, on the other.
The delegation members included company CEO’s and managers from engineering firms, heavy industries, as well as representatives of governmental agencies, research institutes and university professors. The delegation was organized by the Korean Development Bank (KDB) and financially supported by the Korean government; the tour thorough North Rhine-Westphalia was coordinated by NRW Invest.
Presentations of relevant university chairs and by the Fuel Cell Research Centre (ZBT) focused on competencies and latest research projects in the area of automotive technology and alternative energies, especially e-mobility (see agenda below). In sum, four professorial chairs and the ZBT participated.
Following the presentations, the visitors were able to experience the research facilities and laboratories of the Faculty of Engineering and of ZBT "hands on". The event concluded with a question and answers session.
