In the field of resource-efficient energy conversion, we are seeking a physicist (MSc) to work on wide-gap Chalcopyrite solar cells to make them competitive for tandem applications.

Your main tasks

You will be fabricating wide-gap Chalcopyrite solar cells and working toward high efficiencies which has been the bottleneck for their application as top cells in tandems so far. You will approach this challenge by applying novel strategies and thus be in the position of making a significant contribution to the field.

For this, we are looking for a dedicated person, willing to push things forward and ready to tackle any upcoming hurdle.

The work will include both preparation and characterization so that experience in thin film deposition or structural, optical and electrical characterization is highly appreciated.

Your profile

  • excellent Master’s degree in physics, materials science, chemistry, energy science, or a closely related field providing a profound background in solid-state physics to address structural, optical and electrical properties of matter
  • background knowledge in photovoltaics and/or Chalcopyrites acknowledged
  • commitment and joy in experimental work
  • experience with thin film deposition techniques (PVD, sputtering, chemical depositions), or material and device characterization (Raman, SEM, jV, CV) desirable
  • independent working behavior balanced with high-quality team player skills
  • high-quality communication skills
  • very good speaking and writing abilities in the English language required, German language skills beneficial
