SIGN- School integration of recently arrived immigrant children: an ecological multilevel analysis

The aim of the project is to identify the determinants of school integration of recently arrived immigrant and refugee children.

The integration of refugee and recently arrived immigrant children (e.g., Roma) from (South-)East Europe poses a new challenge to schools and thus this project focuses on these two groups. Particularly, the project aims to examine (1) the influence of familiar and extracurricular contexts on children’s school involvement and integration, (2) the quality of children’s social relationships with teachers and peers and (3) determinants of the transition into high school, with regards to individual potential, competences and their educational aspirations. To investigate these questions, data collection will take place in the fourth grade of elementary school.
