Women's team from the University of Duisburg-Essen becomes German University Champion in Field Hockey 2016

The ladies' team from the University of Duisburg-Essen won the German University Championship in field hockey with aplomb last weekend. On the small field, the students from the University of Duisburg-Essen made it to the final without a defeat.

After a hard-fought and close first win in the first game against the University of Heidelberg, the team got together better and better. In the group phase, clear victories against Heidelberg, Wuppertal, Mainz, Karlsruhe and Göttingen were achieved, making the team confident and the only team to make it to the final undefeated. In the final, the UDE met again at the University of Mainz, which started highly motivated to make up for the defeat in the preliminary round. But already in the first half the team from Duisburg-Essen pulled away with 4 goals, so that it became clear that the previous victory was no coincidence.

The game, which was well worth seeing, ended with 6: 3 and so the women of the UDE were able to celebrate their first title in field hockey.

The team: Carina Fischer (TW), Maike Schaunig, Nina Dohr, Anna Klusmann, Alexandra Lohscheidt, Jana Elling, Charly Skiba, Kim Kövel and Verena Würz.
