Faculty of Mathematics of the University of Duisburg-Essen
On a regular basis the Faculty of Mathematics of the University of Duisburg-Essen can be found in nationwide research rankings in the top bracket among mathematics faculties putting a strong emphasis on research. (CHE-Research Ranking, DFG-Fund Ranking). Our faculty reached number 15 among all mathematics departments in Germany in the DFG-Förderatlas 2018.
This was confirmed in the Academic Ranking of World Universities (Shanghai Ranking) 2018 by a position among the 101-150 best Mathematics Departments worldwide. At the same time, Mathematics at UDE ranks among the top eight in Germany.

Digital Mathematics Teacher Education in NRW (DigiMal.nrw)
Never have digital teaching methods been more important – for learners but also for teachers. Preparing them for the digital future ist the main goal of the project "Digitale Mathematiklehrerbildung in NRW (DigiMal.nrw)".
Research Training Group 2553 “Symmetries and classifying spaces: analytic, arithmetic and derived”
The German Research Foundation DFG will fund a Research Training Group run by the Essen Seminar for Algebraic Geometry and Arithmetic starting April 2020. The first funding period will run for four and a half years. After an initial phase, eventually 13 positions for PhD students and one postdoc position will be funded. The first 4 positions will be formally announced shortly.
