Workshop: Stochastic Navier-Stokes equations

From June 15 to 18, 2026, a workshop on stochastic Navier-Stokes equations will take place in Essen. The aim of the workshop is to bring together international experts working on both analytical and numerical aspects of stochastic fluid dynamics and to foster new collaborations.

Research Training Group 2553 will be continued

The German Research Foundation DFG has decided that our Research Training Group 2553 “Symmetries and classifying spaces: analytic, arithmetic and derived” will be funded for a second period of four and a half years, until March 2029. The next 5 doctoral positions have been filled as early as October 2024.

The world is full of uncertainty: Prof. Dr. Dominic Breit uses mathematics to get to the bottom of the causes. For example, he investigates how turbulence in rivers or the emergence of forces can be calculated. He is the newly appointed professor for Partial Differential Equations at our faculty.
