Project AgroTechGreen
AgroTechGreen
Smart Agriculture Model for sustainability and traceability of agro-sustainable value chains
Project Summary
The project aims to strengthen the agri-food supply capacity of cocoa production in Colombia, aligning it with the sustainability and traceability requirements set out in the European Green Deal. To reach this goal, the initiative focuses on developing more sustainable, regulated, and standardized agricultural production systems in Colombia. A central component of this effort is the implementation of capacity-building activities for cocoa farmers, with an emphasis on improving environmentally and socially responsible farming practices.
A further important objective is to enhance the standardization and commercialization of sustainable agricultural outputs. This includes identifying and adopting common standards as well as establishing collaborative supply chain frameworks that facilitate knowledge and technology transfer, supporting both domestic and international market access.
The project also foresees the design and deployment of an operational and financial sustainability framework to secure the long-term continuation of traceability initiatives and the ongoing empowerment of smallholder farmers. This model will play a key role in mobilizing and coordinating funding from various sources to support the sustainable development of agro-based value chains.
Overall, the expected outcomes include the establishment of a sustainable cocoa supply chain, the implementation of eco-efficiency measures, the strengthening of cooperation networks between Europe and Latin America, and the development of long-term capacities that ensure both financial viability and lasting benefits for participating stakeholders.
