Project - Digital Tools and Interest Organization

Digital Tools and Interest Organization in the Global South

Digitalization affects the organization of global supply chains. This also changes procedures and possibilities of transnational labour regulation. A new research project by INEF (Dr. Christian Scheper, Dr. Carolina Vestena) and the Institute for Social Movements at Ruhr-University Bochum (Prof. Dr. Sabrina Zajak) analyzes the impacts of digital tools for communication and participation in global value chains for workers in the Global South. Comparative case studies in the coffee and garment industries in India and Brazil explore new possibilities and pathways for mobilizing, organizing and participating. The project is funded by the Hans-Böckler-Stiftung and is part of the research consortium "Economy of the Future": https://www.boeckler.de/de/die-okonomie-der-zukunft-18476.htm (in German only)
