Your main tasks

Evaluation of the CO2 electroreduction activity of multimetal-based electrocatalysts using scanning electrochemical cell microscopy in the framework of different DFG based projects.

  • Implementation of the double-barrel based SECCM technique
  • Conduction of SECCM measurements performed on material libraries obtained using Ni, Co, Cu, Ag, or other metals, including compositionally complex solid solutions.
  • High-throughput characterization of material libraries using scanning droplet cell (SDC) or SECCM.
  • Evaluation of the samples using atomic force microscopy (AFM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM).
  • Interpretation of the SECCM data. Correlation of the SECCM data with the results obtained by other methods.
  • Manuscript writing, correlation of the electrochemical data with the structural data in collaboration with cooperation partners that are synthesizing the catalysts via the sputtering technique.
  • Storage of experimental data and organized data, according to FAIR principles"
  • In addition, you will be involved in the implementation and execution of courses, and/or the supervision of students, according to the DFG rules.

Your profile

We are looking for a highly motivated, dedicated employee with an excellent academic record. We expect him/her to have an interest in interdisciplinary projects.

  • Above-average university degree in Chemistry, chemical engineering or physics (diploma or master's degree) with at least 8 semesters of regular study time
  • PhD in chemistry or chemical engineering with specialization in electrocatalysis, electrochemistry, technical chemistry
  • Previous experience in nano-electrochemical techniques (such as SECCM, SECM, etc.) is an advantage.
  • previous scientific experience (e.g. knowledge of empirical research methods, laboratory procedures, experience with statistical analyses and corresponding software/other applications) necessary/desirable
  • Technical skills are essential for the project at hand. Previous experience in electrocatalysis, in particular in the field of CO2 electroreduction, and in MatLab, Python or LabView is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English is required.
  • Knowledge of the German language is preferred but not mandatory.
